Who does the work

I’m Andrew Guderian, and I started Pane’N The Glass on the Eastside in 2015. Windows and gutters are our everyday work, so our crew is on ladders at roofline height all year. Holiday lights are a seasonal service we do on top of that, and this page spells out how it works so you can judge for yourself.

Add: this is our [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: number] season hanging lights, we look after about [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: number of homes] homes with lights, [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: who installs and how many people], and we take [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: number] installs each season so there is time to answer repair calls in December.

FAQ

How does it work?

Send us a photo of your home by text or email and tell us what you would like lit. We send you one itemized estimate in writing. We install the lights and set the timer, and after the holidays we take them down, label them and store them for you.

Do I need to be home for the install?

No. We install everything, and your display is on a timer so it turns on each evening.

Do you rent lights or sell them?

You own the lights. Your first year supply fee buys the lights, clips, cords and timer. Each year after that you pay yearly labor for install, takedown and care during the season, not for another set of lights.

What will it cost?

Your estimate has two lines: yearly labor (install, removal and care during the season) and a first year only supply fee for the lights you own. Extras such as trees or wreaths show as their own lines. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: sample prices for the three sample homes, the job minimum, and what changes the price (roofline length, height, roof pitch, trees, extras)]

Why might another company’s quote look different?

Quotes can cover different things. Some leave out takedown, storage or repairs, and some are for lights you rent instead of own. Our quote includes install, bulb swaps and repairs during the season, takedown, labeling and storage. Put the quotes side by side, line by line, and ask each company what is left out.

What kind of lights do you use?

Commercial grade LED C9 bulbs spaced 15 inches apart, warm white as standard or another color mix on request, with commercial grade wire, clips and timers included. The bulbs screw into traditional Christmas light sockets and can be replaced or swapped to another color.

How do you attach the lights? Will it damage my roof or gutters?

We attach lights with clips. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: what kind of clips and which surfaces we clip to. Add ‘We do not nail, staple or screw into your roof, gutters or trim’ only if it is true]

What happens if a bulb goes out?

Free bulb swaps, repairs and replacements of mini lights while under the 3 year warranty. All lights, mini lights and wreaths carry the same 3 year warranty. After 3 years we still cover the labor to swap or repair, and we charge for the supplies.

How do I report a light that is out, and how fast do you come?

Text or call the number on this page and we will take care of it. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: how customers report an outage and the response time you can stand behind in December]

What is not covered?

The 3 year warranty and included maintenance stay valid as long as we install and remove your lights each year at the regular holiday time. If your lights are not removed each season, included maintenance does not continue. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: storm and wind damage, animals, vandalism and damage caused by others. Say what you really do]

When do you install, and when do the lights come down?

Installs run on a schedule we set when you book. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: book-by date, install window, takedown window, and whether you are still taking new customers this season]

Where are my lights stored?

We take them down, label them and store them for you free. If you would rather store them yourself, that is fine.

Can I get my lights back if I ask, or if I move?

The lights are yours. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: how and how fast a customer can get stored lights back, and what happens if they move or switch companies]

Can you hang lights I already own?

Our service is built around lights we supply. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: your policy on hanging lights a customer already owns. Say plainly yes or no]

Are you insured?

Yes. We are licensed with Washington State and fully insured.

Can I get a certificate of insurance?

Yes, ask and we will send one. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: that we can and will send a certificate of insurance, and how fast]

Is lighting your main business?

We are a local Eastside crew that does windows, gutters and seasonal lighting, and we work at roofline height all year. Lights are a seasonal service we do on top of that. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: number of seasons hanging lights, roughly how many homes, who installs, and how many installs we take each season]

Do I pay a deposit? What if I need to cancel?

Your estimate is itemized and in writing. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: deposit amount or none, when the rest is due, how to pay, cancellation and reschedule terms, sales tax included or added, and whether the quote can change on install day]

What if the weather is bad?

We keep an eye on the weather and we will tell you if an install needs to move. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: what delays an install and how customers are told. Say only what really happens]

Will my display come back the same next year?

Your lights are labeled and stored for your home and go back up on your home each season. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: whether we keep photos or measurements for each home, and whether the yearly labor price can change]

Can I add or change something later?

Bulbs can be swapped to another color, and anything extra such as peaks, trees or wreaths shows as its own line in your estimate. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: that add-ons are always their own lines, and how add-on pricing works]

Do you light businesses and HOAs?

Our service covers homes and businesses across the Eastside. [ANDREW TO CONFIRM: whether that includes storefronts, offices and HOAs, and any size limits]
